DONATION OF GOODS

Donations of supplies and materials make it possible for our funding to go straight to the children and families we serve. We accept donations of:

  • Gift cards
  • Unused school supplies and backpacks
  • Gifts for children of all ages – new toys, books, etc.
  • Activities for families that utilize our supervised visitation services (sports balls, like-new board games, unused toys)

If your 2023 donation is eligible for the Colorado Child Care Contribution Tax Credit, you will receive tax credit certification in January 2024.

CLC Financial Disclosures

COLORADO CHILD CARE CONTRIBUTION TAX CREDIT

Many* donations to CASA of Larimer County qualify for the Colorado Child Care Contribution Tax Credit (CCCTC). The CCCTC is a 50% state income tax credit on qualifying gifts that promote child care. Any Colorado taxpayer that makes a qualifying contribution - including individuals, estates, trusts, and corporations - can claim the CCCTC. You may claim a 50% tax credit on qualifying donations during the year for up to $100,000 (joint filing).

Examples of the total impact on your taxes are shown in the chart below. As always, you should consult your tax advisor to determine how the credit will affect you personally and identify your household's tax rate.

*QUALIFYING GIFTS
  • Monetary donations made in cash, by check, or individual retirement account (IRA) qualify
  • Individuals and corporations are eligible for the credit
  • Donations made from donor-advised funds do not qualify for the credit
  • Services or property donated in-kind (including shares of stock) do not qualify for the credit
  • Tax-deductible portions of sponsorships where goods or services are received in exchange for your donation do qualify for the credit; non-tax-deductible portions do not qualify for the credit
HOW TO CLAIM THE CREDIT

Taxpayers must file an annual income tax return and submit a copy of the completed CCCTC Certification (Form DR 1317) with their return.

CASA of Larimer County automatically provides Form DR 1317 for each donation over $250 that qualifies for the credit. Form DR 1317 will be distributed by January 31st of the year following the year your donation was made (e.g. if your donation was made in 2024, you will receive Form DR 1317 by January 31st 2025).
