CASA of Larimer County has been serving the most vulnerable children in our community through advocacy, support and awareness since 1984. And while we do assist the courts, we are not a government organization but rather a non-profit 501c3 that relies on donations and volunteers. Larimer County serves the 8th Judicial District and ranks 9th in the state of Colorado for child Dependency and Neglect (D&N) cases.
There are nearly 1,000 CASA organization across the country and 16 in Colorado. CASA is for children, and we are lucky to have the support of over 80 active CASA volunteers in Larimer County who care for their well-being. But in 2016 there were 260 new D&N filings in the court, and our resources provided for 186 of those children, so the need for advocacy and support is great.
The Harmony House provides a safe place in the community for conflict-free family interactions. It offers children a chance to stay connected with their families during time of conflict through supervised visitation and non-custodial parents as a safe exchange site.
We provide a voice in court for abused and neglected children and a safe place in the community for conflict-free family interactions.
